French Onion Soup
Onions soup is easy to make, full of flavor and an all-time favorite!
This classic recipe has the perfect balance of flavor!
Traditionally this soup is baked in a crock with some crusty French bread and gooey melted cheese like gruyere or provolone.
I also like to top mine with some tobacco onions for a nice texture and visual wow!
French Onion Soup Instructions
Soup French Onion Step 1: Julienne onions and shallots very thin using a Japanese mandolin or a food processor.
Soup French Onion Step 2: Sweat the garlic, shallots and onions with the sugar, butter and canola oil.
Soup French Onion Step 3: Add the sherry and cook out the alcohol. Sprinkle the flour over the onion mixture and cook for 2-3 minutes. Add stock and season with salt & pepper.
Soup French Onion Step 4: Make a bouquet garnish with the peppercorns, bay leaves, parsley and thyme. Simmer for 30-45 minutes.
